'Dem i hjørnerne' is an ode to the feeling of being an outsider, the song grows from small to big and back again, not too sure if it wants to be gloomy, melancholic or tender. We wrote and recorded it in Jebjerg in december, looking at a winterly grey tree outside the window.
The song comes with a collaboration with visual artist Kristina Aurora Simonsen (Aarhus, DK). Aurora mostly works on long-term projects, utilizing metaphors from the natural environment to construct speculative narratives that reveal non-linear entanglements between human and non-human life. Giving up space and decentering the human in encounters with other organisms and entities, is a method for her to explore the mystical and emotional connection between the body and the natural world.
Aurora’s description of 'Dem i hjørnerne' is pretty much what the song feels like to us: „The darkness, the desperation, a feeling of being watched but not seen. To be touched but not to be completely reached. Standing on the brink of dissolution and transformation. Moods that are taken from the music and the text - transferred to a visual narrative.“
